I always wanted to see a more serious approach for Batgirl...so I did a concept design of Batgirl based on the style of the new Batman movies.

I didn't try to make her sexy or anything like that...but actually strong, slightly muscular and at the same time feminine ( the basic idea was Jessica Biel in Blade trinity ). She posses two short capes instead of one, resembling a dress, the rest of the suit is similar to the Dark Knight with Kevlar plates.

The two capes remind me of Darth Vader!

What I like most about this is that it isn't sexy, but strong. She isn't being seen as something to look at, but rather someone to fight with. I LOVE the armor *is a fan of strong chicks 'cause she herself is a chick* because it is just so purely awesome and detailed. Not to mention the fact that it is practical and I like the two short capes, again, practical. This is just so awesome and well thought out! :)

Thanks, that's what I try to portray in the event of drawing a heroine, I like to make them strong, feminine ( the double cape looks like a dress ) but not sexy in a sleazy way.

The basic idea is that I like to see a heroine that looks like she can kick your ass lol.

Me too! I wish the comic industry would start realizing that women are also a part of the audience and that not all men are into the boob and thong look. >>

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing sexy women in comics, movies or whatever but still I'm able to separate the fact that I like a serious powerful heroines instead of one flying around half-naked. If you think about it is about the same with the overly muscular bare-chested heroes.

Besides who says that serious and strong isn't sexy? lol...remember Sarah Connor or Ripley.

That's kind of my view on things. I just hate that the women are so heavily objectified in comics while the men really kind of aren't. It is getting better slowly, but some of the issues are just ugh. And movies are getting bad too, I mostly stay away from live-action unless I know it won't feature Megan Fox half-naked on top of some middle aged guy. >> Anyway, yeah, I agree. I like seeing a serious hero instead of one bare-chested and spouting off cheesy romantic lines to his love interest. I also would like Supergirl to wear pants. >> At least now she has boxer shorts on under that short short skirt. XD

Well in my design of Supergirl ( or Superwoman in my case ) she has rubber/spandex pants with a low cape resembling a dress. Although I still left the small red boxer thing instead of the usual useless mini skirt.

Not bad! A complete 180 from the sexy Batgirl of comic and animation fame, but for a movie concept that would be a good thing. Batgirl would need just as much armor as Batman does if she's gonna prowling the streets of Nolan's Batman universe and this drawing displays that concept well.

Great job :D

Well it's not that I'm against heroines looking sexy, it's just that for the most part it really isn't very practical. Except Super girl or some other with similar powers that do not require the suit to fight evil...but most of the heroines are a little too much exposed to harm.
